So I was up late last night and even later the night before with what now seems to be only bi-monthly visits from that IBS crap. I am here to say thank god for homeopathic remedies because my mom says she hasn’t had any problems for years since going this route and I have no trouble believing her. Anyhoo, since these are no longer running back and forth to the bathroom cuz I think I’m gonna puke episodes but merely enough discomfort to make sleep difficult episodes, I had lots of time to think both nights.
First of all I thoughts of all sorts of brilliant blog topics in my half awake state and promptly forgot all of them when I woke up. I also realized that since I started blogging I have had (more than usual) a running commentary going on in my head as if I were composing blogs that for the most part never get written. I must state tho that this didn’t start when I started blogging, it just got worse but thats okay as it makes me more aware of my surroundings.
Another random thought. I used to (and may still but I don’t notice anymore) look at signs or clocks with numbers on them and add and subtract them with no particular rules till I got them down to 0, or till I got them to make the numbers 1 through 10 and beyond if possible. I had a particular problem with this on those nights when I knew I had to be up early and because of that I was still lying awake at 3:00 in the morning looking at the digital display on my clock. Right now for example the little draft saved thing next to this window says Draft Saved at 2:46:51 pm. Its wrong, but for demonstration purposes I have 12 and 1+2=3 so thats 123456 2+5=7 2+6=8 12345678 4+5=9 4+6=10. Et voila I have 1-10 in very short order. And my mind does this automatically without any effort on my part and its very hard to stop once I get started. I wonder if theres a name for this?
I have a mind that is for some reason drawn to painfully boring tasks and I enjoy them. Par example, I really enjoy alphabetizing things. I have applied at libraries many times over the years but since I don’t have a degree they weren’t hiring. I’m sorry, but is it really that hard to understand the Dewey Decimal system? I got it when I was in 4th grade. Why do I have to go to college to work for a library? Anyway, I get this out of my system but periodically reorganizing our large DVD collection. Sometimes its just in alphabetical order but others like now its organized by Genre and then alpabet. Scary movies are divided into Zombie, Human Psycho, Ghosties, and of course, Animal attacks. We have the kids cartoons a la Spongebob and Disney separate from the adult cartoons like Ren and Stimpy and Robot Chicken. Its really sad. I also used to love inputing my dads checkbook into Quicken or Microsoft Money. I would do it for hourse sometimes because at the time he didn’t have a debit card and always wrote checks.
Well I guess for having nothing to say it sure took a lot of words to say it- I’m already at 550 so I guess thats enough for today. Have a good one and I’m sorry this post was so weird.
