Well Toi, we’re going fish shopping tomorrow I think, and then the naming will commence. As it stands now, we are down 3 fish out of 8- the female angelfish, a goldfish, and a guppy that were alas unable to withstand the martini shaker ride they got home yesterday. Sadly the male angel fish seems to have a problem with its swim bladder which in laymens terms means that the poor thing floats on its side at the top of the tank because it can’t get rid of the air in its stomach. Very sad and unlikely to get better as the common cures have not worked. I feel like I should just put it out of its missery, but you all know how I feel about that. Mercy killings are good maybe, but I can’t do em.
In gardening news, I have pumpkins turning orange and tomatoes turning red and yellow based on their variety. Sadly they have a tendency to split as I’ve mentioned before, which means that I am picking them half ripe in order to get them before the bugs and heat do. Thats really the extent of harvestable food items as the squash bugs have pretty much destroyed my zucchini plants and I refuse to use chemicals on them. I don’t want to hurt the honey bees and everything seems to. I tried soapy water, but it didn’t work, and really I got my share of zuc’s for the year. Next year I will do things differently and I have no regrets. Now I’m ready for fall and all the fun it brings. Mainly Halloween and Thanksgiving. Jarell and I love to have the family over and any excuse is good so this time of year ahead of us is perfect for us.
We live in the country on 70 acres of land and so when we get to the real fall weather this year, we’ll have bonfires and an old fashioned Halloween party. I plan to make more tombstones like the paper mache one from a few posts back and we’re going to “plant” a graveyard and, if we, can fill it with mummies or ghosts or something. There will be costumes and candy and all sorts of goodies. Any suggestions for games (besides bobbing for apples because according to Jarell thats just gross) are greatly appreciated. We usually number around 13 or 14 so its a pretty good size group. Amazingly thats with only about half of Jarell’s brothers and sisters. Anyway, its getting late and my battery is running low so I’m going to sign off for now.
Bonne Nuit mes chers invisibles
