I love my nieces don’t get me wrong, but there are times when they drive me a little crazy. The younger one especially because she’s 6 going on 13 and has the diva bit down to a T. Every time she doesn’t get what she wants theres this face, combined with this little stomp, as the arms cross and she runs out of the room. This is the response to “No you can’t have any ice cream” “Quit jumping off that (exercise) ball you’re going to get hurt and I don’t want to have to explain that to your mom” “Come here sweetie. This is why I told you to quit jumping off that ball” “You already hurt yourself once on that thing quit doing that” “No ice cream isn’t real food” and on and on and on. Driving me crazy! This is the second day in a row that they’ve been over here and I’m running out patience. I’ve had movies going all day because video games quickly turn into pout fests. The older one is really good. If I tell her no her response is “Oh darn” and thats that. Yesterday we painted and made cards, made candy from a kids kit by Wilton (a big messy mistake) and in general tried to keep busy. Today has had to be a little less active because I was up late last night doing ridiculous stuff on the computer. I’m beginning to wonder how I’m going to manage with my younger nieces every Thursday till their mom’s done with her college class. If I can’t keep a 10 y/o and a 6 y/o occupied, what will I do with a 1 & 1/2 y/o and a 4 y/o? Spongebob for some of the time, but having my nieces around reminds me (over and over) why I don’t have any kids yet. I see babies and think oh I want one, I want one, but I have the kids around, and I think never ever ever. Until they cuddle up with me on the couch and then they’re pure sweetness. Also, why do I have less trouble with my 3 y/o nephew? I’m coming close to using KathiD’s method of child rearing but lack a hammock.
The good news is I did get something productive done today and yesterday. I made a couple more cards. Yesterday was a fairy and today a little witch for the wicked witch switch.
Now I’m too tired to do much more than read blogs like a zombie due to my staying up till 2 am last night and getting up at 9 am…. yeah I know- why’d I get up so early. See the first paragraph. Have a good evening folks
